DMA’s Wheel Profile Measurement System (WPMS) is designed for unattended inspection of the wheel geometry to improve the uptime of the rolling stock, infrastructure, and service operators’ safety. The system automatically operates every time a train is passing by, measuring the wheel profile and other geometrical parameters, for each wheelset of the train.

The system computes the main geometrical parameters of the wheelset in real-time and sends an alarm to the supervisor’s computer if any parameter is outside safety thresholds. All measurement data are recorded and available for post-processing. Thus, this wheel measurement tool can supply supportive data for maintenance plan optimization, reducing costs.
